The teachers have not been coming to a school in Madhya Pradesh for 15 days.

Residents reported that nearly 50 students are studying in the primary school here, but due to the teacher not coming, more than half of the students have switched to another school.

In the rural schools of Madhya Pradesh, such as the government primary school in Pokhara Tola, Dhatura village, Singrauli district, education standards are severely affected due to teacher absenteeism. The school, with around 50 students from grades one to five, often finds itself without teachers. Even though there is one teacher assigned to the school, their irregular attendance leaves the children without proper education.

During a recent visit by the News team on Friday, they found the school locked with a padlock hanging on the door, indicating its closure. Local residents revealed that for the past 15 days, the school has remained locked due to the teacher not showing up regularly.

The situation reflects a broader issue where basic education is compromised due to administrative and staffing negligence. Indrajit Upadhyay, a local resident, highlighted that the teacher also holds a Block Level Officer (BLO) position, which further complicates their availability at the school.

Concerned by these findings, the ABP News team reached out to Arvind Jha, Deputy Collector of Singrauli, who assured that appropriate action would be taken after investigation. He noted that if the Block Level Officer’s responsibilities are affecting school operation, adjustments could be made, though such duties usually require attention outside of school hours due to additional compensation.

This case underscores the challenges faced by rural education systems in ensuring consistent and quality education for children.
