The Higher Education Department of Madhya Pradesh is preparing to implement a dress code in government colleges.

The Higher Education Department of Madhya Pradesh is preparing to implement a dress code in government colleges. Students will not be allowed to attend classes wearing jeans and t-shirts. The state government plans to enforce this rule starting from the current academic session. The responsibility for selecting the uniform has been delegated to college administrations by the Higher Education Department. Local college committees will discuss the dress code. Principals, students, and committee members will decide on the dress code after a meeting.

Under the new dress code, female students will wear salwar-kurta and male students will wear pants and shirts to college. According to Higher Education Minister Indar Singh Parmar, implementing college uniforms will promote uniformity among students and eliminate distinctions based on wealth, class, or religion.

Identification of external male students

Implementing a dress code in colleges also aims to facilitate the identification of external individuals, especially in government colleges where antisocial elements may sometimes enter unnoticed. It becomes challenging to identify them without a clear identification process. With the enforcement of a dress code, it will be easier to distinguish external individuals, ensuring better security and a safer environment within college premises.
